Sunday, November 8th 2009 at 1pm, the Olympia Film Festival presents its Locals Only selections.  "The Birth Attendants," a 37-minute animated documentary, will be playing then!  Please come and check out this film about the Birth Attendants, a local organization that provides vital support for pregnant women and mothers in prison.

At any time, about 4% of women are pregnant. The same is true for women in prison.

In Washington state, a group of volunteer doulas provides support for mothers and pregnant women behind bars.

Since 2002, the Birth Attendants have provided pregnancy support, labor assistance, and post-partum care for incarcerated women.

So far, they have reached over 500 women in prison, providing emotional,
informational and physical support --

the support every mother deserves.
